If you are looking for volunteers, please post volunteer opportunities through your agency profile on Get Connected, the site shared by USM and United Way of Southeast MS. Please complete this form to request an agency profile, login information, or for us to post the opportunity for you: https://usmforms.formstack.com/forms/service
Our center advertises volunteer opportunities - we do not have a group of students on hand and ready to volunteer. Help us make your opportunity stand out by sending pictures or social media graphics, an exciting description of what volunteers will do, and detailed instructions on what volunteers can expect.
What is the difference between all the volunteers who come to my organization?
Some volunteers are from service-learning classes, in which the professor has chosen to educate students by engaging them in meaningful
community service. Other volunteers are interested in gaining hands-on experience,
are required to earn service hours, or enjoy giving back to the community. Many times,
student organizations like to volunteer together as a group, but please know that
you can request small groups based on how many individuals you can feasibly accomodate.
Other opportunities to connect with USM:
Non-Profit Studies
USM offers a minor and graduate certificate in Non-Profit Studies. These programs teach skills necessary to work in the nonprofit sector. All students
in the program participate in an internship and service-learning hours, so if you
are interested in hosting students, contact ann.kinnellFREEMississippi.
Internships
If your organization has difficulty finding volunteers or could use a few extra hands,
redefining volunteer opportunities by establishing an intern program can serve as
a practical solution. For additional information on recruiting policies and how to
post available internships, visit Handshake or CCE's Nonprofit Internships page.
Research
If you are interested in knowing more about the effectiveness of your programs, the
needs or experiences of the populations you serve, best practices or additional resources,
this could be a great research project for a student. Please email cceFREEMississippi%20with your idea!
