Faculty, staff, and students at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) will convene on Friday, Nov. 4 to demonstrate their remarkable achievements in research, scholarship, and creative endeavors as part of the University’s annual Research Day festivities.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at USM’s Marine Education Center – 101 Sweetbay Drive, Ocean Springs, Miss.
Dr. Kelly Lucas, Interim Vice President for Research at USM, noted the significance of showcasing the myriad research efforts taking place across multiple disciplines.
“It is important to offer our faculty and staff an annual opportunity to come together and celebrate the innovation and creativity of our diverse research endeavors as well as provide an opportunity to network and form new partnerships,” said Lucas.
USM continues to be recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as an R1 doctoral institution with higher research activity. This significant national recognition validates the high quality of the University’s strong graduate and undergraduate programs.
“Research Day is an excellent opportunity to highlight our vast research enterprise, build relationships across disciplines, and encourage collaboration among researchers,” said Lucas. “Continuing to allow our faculty and students to pursue the research and scholarship that motivates them to serve the public good will enable us to strengthen our R1 status.”
