Welcome to the School of Computing Sciences and Computer Engineering! By joining us, you’re becoming a valued member of a dynamic and supportive community. Here, you’ll find a network of dedicated faculty, enthusiastic staff, driven students, and accomplished alumni, all committed to helping you succeed. We’re excited to embark on this journey with you and look forward to seeing all the amazing things you’ll accomplish.
We offer undergraduate degrees in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, and cybersecurity, along with minors and certificate programs in software engineering, cybersecurity, and computer networking. The University of Southern Mississippi has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Two of our programs are offered fully online: the Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity. We also have an Accelerated Bachelor of Science to Master of Science pathway that enables students to take six hours of graduate credit before receiving the Bachelor of Science degree. We offer a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and a PhD in Computer Science.
Our faculty consists of researchers known nationally for their innovative work and professionals with real-world industry, military, and government sector work experience.
The School is committed to broadening participation in computing (BPC). We are proud to members of the MS Pathways to Computing Consortium through which we seek to broaden participation by providing an on-ramp for students from all backgrounds to graduate degrees in computing. View our BPC plan which was the first in Mississippi verified and included on the National Science Foundation-supported BPCnet Resource Portal.
