Page Content
Advanced environmental science careers (i.e., those requiring M.S. or Ph.D.) require knowledge and familiarity with experimental design and analysis of increasingly complex datasets. The Environmental Statistics (ES) Proficiency Badge demonstrates expertise in experimental design and data analysis. The ES Badge is earned after successfully completing two graduate-level statistics courses from a prescribed list of courses.
What Are the Requirements?
Successful completion of two graduate-level courses in environmental statistics from the following:
- BSC 694 “Experimental Design and Data Analysis in Biology”
- BSC 747 “Multivariate Applications in Ecology”
- COA 606 “Biometry for the Coastal Sciences”
- COA 620 “Introduction to Bayesian Statistics in Ecology”
- COA 616 “Geostatistics in Environmental Science”
- GHY 517 “Quantitative Methods for Geographic Analysis”
- GHY 518 “Spatial Analysis”
- GHY 715 “Quantitative Methods in Spatial Analysis”
What Will I Learn?
- Design experiments to collect data for environmental research or application.
- Analyze and interpret environmental data.
- Development of familiarity with current environmental statistical methods and software.
